Day 31: Where You Relax

I am usually just chilling on the couch with Hubby after work, and that's pretty boring.  So, I'm putting a picture of where I'd like to relax.  This is a picture of a field where we used to live in Arkansas.  I would just like to spread a blanket under one of those trees and watch the clouds go by, with Hubby of course.  We are really missing Arkansas, and hopefully we will get back there when it's time.

Day 30: Toy

Because I don't have any children, I had a hard time coming up with this one.  So, I am putting a picture of what I use for fun (which can be defined, loosely, as a toy).  This is my 1949 Heavyweight Singer.  I named her Betty.  I need to clean her and replace her rubber parts, and someday get a new case for her, but she is a pretty good machine.  In the background you can also see my newer Singer, and my Juki Surger.

Day 29: Feet

This picture is one of my sister's favorites pictures of when we were little.  She was a newborn, and on the far right, I'm in the middle, and our older brother is on the left.

Day 28: Trash

I really didn't want to take a picture of trash or a trash can, so I'm going with the opposite of trash: Treasure.
This last week I've been working on my latest creation.  It was inspired by THIS bag I saw on Pinterest/Etsy.  I fell in love with the color and the idea of the slouchy bag with  two handles.  I changed it up a bit, to make it my own.

It's about 20"w x 16"h x 6"d.  I made it to travel with, because I always seem to over stuff my purse.  I got some Turquoise Duck Canvas from JoAnn Fabrics and a cute Cotton Flower print for the lining.  For the brown handle/accents I used 550 Paracord. The front has 4 lined pockets that I put at an angle to add interesting lines.

The sides have a pocket each and tabs to hook the longer strap to.
I didn't line the side pockets.  Instead I made a bias tape and sewed it to the edge.
The back has a huge pocket to stick a lap top in, with a button/elastic closure for easy access.
I lines and over-lapped the lining to make a band for interest.
I also interfaced the outside parts with stiff iron-on interfacing some peal interfacing.

On the inside of the back outside pocket is a hidden zipper pocket for anything I need easier access to.

The top/shorter handle is as wide as the bag for extra support, but I bound the middle to make it easier to carry with my hand if I don't want to sling it over my shoulder.
The top also has a zipper closer to keep all the stuff I will put in it from spilling out.

The inside has 3 tall and 3 short pockets on each side, for a total of 12 inside, and it's wide enough to put stuff in the middle.

<---------  Here it is hanging by the short handle.

Here it is hanging by the long strap. ------>

I have a enough Duck Canvas left over that I'm planning on making a bag to go with it to carry around as a purse once I get to my destination.   I'll have to find a complimentary lining for my bag.  Look for more pictures to come.

Day 27: Your Name

I got some new pens for work, and here is my name in the color I've been using this week.

Day 26: Key

Here is a picture of my keys.  I have a car key w/ fab, house key, flashlight, and other stuff.

Day 25: Breakfast

We tried those new cracker/cookie/granola things called BelVita, and they are pretty good.  I feel like I'm eating something healthy, and getting a little bit of a treat.

Day 24: Animal

I had a hard time with this one, because there are so many to choose from.  But I picked a picture of Peep, our window cat when he was still little.

Peep (named by the kids upstairs), is a funny cat.  He is an outside kitty and loves Hubby and I to scratch his head, but not hold him.  He sleeps in one of the window wells (hence the 'window cat' title).  We feed him, and scratch him, and even Duke likes him and Peep likes rubbing on Duke.

Day 23: Moon

This is a picture I took last summer of the moon from the backyard.  I also have it as my screen saver, because it's calming and beautiful to me.

Day 22: Kitchen Sink

I really didn't want to post a picture of my kitchen sink that is full of dishes, so I'm posting a picture of a sink I would like in my future house.

Day 21: Delicious

I'm sure the intention for this title is for food, but when I hear the word 'Delicious' I only think of our huge Chicken we called Delicious.  So here is a mini tribute to him.

Day 20: Before and After

I did the before and after in one shot.  It's that time of year for starting Chickens, and Gardens.  Hubby was recently in Arkansas, and he went to the farm store, and they had baby ducks there.  Needless to say, we are really missing Arkansas and Ducks.

Day 19: Funny

Here is a picture of Duke with a Nerf Dart in his mouth.  We have a Nerf gun and Duke loves chasing the darts as they come out of the gun.  When he first started chasing them, he would pick them up and bring them back (ending is a slimy pile of darts), but now he just keeps one in his mouth the whole time.  It generally looks like his smoking a funky cigar.  It's even funnier when he barks with it still in his mouth.

Here is a video of Hubby playing with him.

Day 18: A Corner of Your Home

I thought I'd go old school for this photo, since you've all seen current stuff.  This is a picture of the bedroom, in the house we rented in Mesa, Arizona.  The owners let me paint the walls this great blue color.  We loved his bedroom.  It was so calming with the soft colors, and the spacious area.  We had mirrored closes on two walls, and a huge sliding glass door on another.  So the room was always full of light, softened by my draperies.

Day 17: Green

This is a Christmas present Hubby gave me this past Christmas.  It is called a Heather Gem.  It's made of Heather plant that has been dyed and pressed with resin, then shaped.  I think it's beautiful, and unique.  Check out the website, and see how they are made; it's really interesting.  It also shipped pretty quickly, considering it came all the way from Scotland.  It means a lot to me since I have some Scot-Irish heritage, and we love remembering where we come from.   Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Day 16: Sunglasses

Here is Hubby and I on our first day in Barbados. We wore our sunglasses a LOT.

Day 15: Car

I know it's kind of abstract, but this is the door handle to our car. It was one of those days when I was taking pictures of things at weird angles.

Day 14: Clouds

This was while we were in Barbados in October of 2009. It was so incredible to wake up in the morning to this site.

Day 13: A Sign

I am a big blog reader, and have recently gotten into Pinterest. I saw this and it looks a lot like Hubbies Beard. I love my Hubbies beard! So this sign is a reminder that I love his beard.
